your AI slop sucks.
like, really.What is slop?
- slopnoun
- Low-quality digital content, usually produced in quantity using artificial intelligence.
Not all AI content is slop. It becomes slop when nobody put any of themselves in it and it gets pushed on people who never asked.
Don’t do this
It’s not the tool. It’s how you use it.
- “make me a flyer for my event”SLOP
- “write me a motivational LinkedIn post about morning coffee”SLOP
- “generate me a video of a cat saying have a good day”SLOP
Ok you saved 3 minutes… but everyone who’ll see the result will suffer for it.
Every slop post buries something a person actually made. And once people spot slop in your work, they read everything you publish differently, including the good stuff.
Do this instead
Use AI to draft, to speed up the boring parts, to test an idea. Just put something of yours in what you publish.
- “vertical flyer. Photo I shot (attached) of last year’s venue as background, desaturated. Big condensed orange title, sans serif font, left-aligned, bottom third. Date and address in one line under the title.”FINE
- Writing:
- The idea is yours. Reread, rewritten, AI language tics removed. You can defend every claim in the text.
- Images:
- A real brief, references, a precise style. Not one line and the first generic output.
- Video:
- AI does a shot you couldn’t get, inside something you actually made.
Think before you post
- Did you read all of it?
- Could you defend it?
- Is it free from that obvious AI look?
Three yes: publish. Otherwise it’s slop.
If you don’t put any of yourself into what you post, why should we bother reading it?
